The Maritime Museum of Ushuaia has become one of the cultural and touristic references of Ushuaia, this led us to look for a Quality Management System in order to ensure the satisfaction of national, foreign and community visitors in general, thus we became the first museum in South America to receive ISO 9001: 2000 certification, in August 2006, (Certificate Nº QS-0241 SA.)

ISO 9001 is a management tool that seeks to optimize and control the quality of services, an operating system whose requirements are flexible and easily adaptable to the needs and characteristics of each organization. This method of work establishes the obligations and precise requirements to carry out efficient and effective management.
The implementation of this standard for the Maritime Museum of Ushuaia meant improving its general planning, clarifying strategies, policies, objectives and working methods, optimizing the use of resources, establishing a greater participation of personnel and strengthening team spirit, and facilitate the realization of activities thanks to the agreed procedures. The application of the ISO 9001 system is also useful to establish the prevention of inappropriate practices in procedures and attitudes, thanks to systematic internal and external audits; establish a greater awareness of the needs of visitors, subject the museum to continuous monitoring of the quality of processes, ensuring the permanent improvement of services and achieving external recognition of the quality with which the management.
In 2009, we renewed the Quality Management System certification in accordance with ISO 9001: 2008, based on compliance with the European Accreditation Certification (EAC Guidelines) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

The results of this management led us to the recognition of the SECRETARIAT OF TOURISM OF THE NATION THROUGH THE NATIONAL DIRECTORATE OF TOURISM QUALITY MANAGEMENT, under the Ministry of Tourism of the Nation, by Lic. Leonardo Boto Álvarez, in September 2008, we were distinguished and certified with the Plate N International Standards for Tourist Quality, for cultural tourism activity and educational activity for tourism in general and the community.

The MINISTRY OF TOURISM OF THE NATION AND THE INFUETUR, in June 2012, certified the Maritime Museum in the program "Accessibility Guidelines for Lodging and Tourist Services", within the framework of the Argentine Tourism Quality System. Minister of Tourism of the Nation, Enrique Meyer delivered to the Director of the Museum Lic. Carlos Pedro Vairo and Mrs. María Alejandra Rosell the corresponding certificates.
